Stormzy and Mabel pick up awards at last night’s BRITs
Stormzy and Mabel took the O2 Arena by storm with their performances.
If you want to kick off an awards show in style – call in Mabel for a favour. Starting the BRITs the right way, Mabel showed everyone who’s boss with her hit ‘Don’t Call Me Up’.
She also picked up the gong for Best Solo Female. Thanking her mum as she picked up the award she said, “I had the honour today of walking the red carpet with my amazing mum, and it’s exactly 30 years today since she took home two of these and performed on this stage. It’s a very special night.”
If only we had as much talent from our parents, mind you – we can pack away a pop up tent in less than 30 seconds. We’d like to see Mabel do that.
Stormzy scooped up Male Solo Artist for the second time after taking home the award in 2018. Heavy is the mantelpiece with all his awards stacking up.
He also took to the stage to deliver some of his biggest hits ‘Don’t Forget To Breathe’, ‘Do Better’ and ‘Wiley Flow’ before stepping into a mash-up of J Hus’ ‘Fortune Teller’ and his own ‘Own It’.
Stormzy, Mabel and so, so many more play this year’s Reading Festival.
