10 of Joji’s essential tracks
George Miller aka Pink Guy aka Filthy Frank aka Joji creates contemplative, trap-infused R&B. If you aren’t up to speed with his releases – that’s why we’re here. Count down 10 of his essential tracks with us before he takes to the BBC Radio 1 Stage at this year’s Reading Festival.
1. SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK
…can you…
*inhales*
GIIIIIVVVEEEEE ME REASONS WE SHOULD BE COMPLETE
2. YEAH RIGHT
This is proof that Joji might just be the most beautifully depressing artist we’ve ever heard.
3. Midsummer Madness
Okay, technically this isn’t just Joji’s song but how can you say no to the whole 88rising crew? If this doesn’t give you all the summer feels, you obviously haven’t experienced the Reading campsites as the sun starts to rise in the sky again.
4. CAN’T GET OVER YOU (feat. Clams Casino)
Joji struggling to rollerblade looks similar to us trying to walk to the campsites with all the crap we definitely didn’t need to pack but did anyway.
5. TEST DRIVE
Yes, this is the same person who walked on all fours in a skin-tight pink suit whilst yelling, “HAMBURGER PLEASE”.
6. World$tar Money
Oozing with nostalgic vibes and lo-fi hip-hop beats, this is just the one.
7. Thom
If you’re after some chilled out, sad boi vibes – this is the one. Just watch out for the under the radar scream that comes in at 02:18.
8. Will He
Who remembers when it was ramen and not blood in the bathtub?
9. Demons
This video might be one of the deepest things we’ve ever witnessed in our sad little lives. The dirty area is symbolic of how he was tied down by Filthy Frank and the costume is how he was weighed down by Pink Guy. He can’t get out of the pool, so he feels like he’s drowning.
10. ATTENTION
“When you cry you waste your time over boys you never liked. can you not be so obvious?” Okay, we feel personally victimised by this lyric.
Joji brings the vibes to the BBC Radio 1 Stage on Friday at Reading Festival – if you want in on the action, you better be quick.
