Everybody’s favourite four-piece, British alternative band Wolf Alice concluded today’s line up on the BBC Radio 1 Stage with a setlist overflowing with a mixture of grunge and rocky-pop festival anthems.

Straight off the blocks with the thumping beats of ‘Your Love’s Whore’ and then into rage-fuelled ‘Yuk Foo’, Wolf Alice’s energy and on-stage presence proved they get better and better with every gig they do.

Fiery front-woman Ellie Rowsell is no nonsense and she effortlessly switched between down-tempo romantic tracks such as ‘Don’t Delete the Kisses’ to more intense, up-beat gritty tunes like ‘You’re a Germ.’ A crowd highlight was when Ellie invited a couple up on stage which gave them the perfect setting for a marriage proposal. Claps of admiration and a dedication of ‘Don’t Delete the Kisses’ to the happy couple made for a memorable night for all.

The finale track ‘Giant Peach’ ended in a burst of confetti and Ellie running down to the front row to hug fans. The band can do it all – from supporting the likes of Liam Gallagher and Foo Fighters, to selling out Alexandra Palace. Headlining the BBC Radio 1 Stage on Friday night seems like it’ll be a highlight for not only the band, but their devoted fans too.
