Secret sets have become something of a tradition at Reading Festival and have created the most unforgettable festival moments throughout the years. From Green Day in 2012 and Jamie T in 2014 to Wolf Alice and Queens of the Stone Age, you’ve had some corkers.
Some absolutely huge names have dropped by for an impromptu jam over the years and 2018 is no different.
This weekend already we’ve had Bring Me The Horizon drop by and now you lucky lot have also got Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, who return to surprise fans with a raucous performance on The Pit Stage.
Last time we saw Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes at Reading Festival they were tearing apart the Radio 1 Stage so today’s set seems intimate by comparison and Frank Carter seems to love it.
Impeccably dressed as always, The Rattlesnakes blast through ‘Juggernaut’ to open.
It’s not even the end of the first song before Frank is shirtless and stood atop the crowd, encouraging the girls in the crowd to crowd surf in a safe environment, an important message of community that permeates the set.
If that’s not enough Frank decides to get a little exercise midway through the set as he orchestrates a circle pit AROUND The Pit Stage in what must be a Reading Festival first.
Towards the end of the set, Frank announces this is their last gig of the year as they’re off to record a new album and with the set they play today, what a way to go out.
